Now a days I have become a movie buff, each night as soon as I go back home , the only thing that crops up in my mind is to first have my dinner and then settle down for a movie……..a major bliss while you are a bachelor and staying away from your family ---freedom of choice and actions :P :D
So while browsing through the web in my office time, I had chanced upon this movie called “Only you”, which seemed a romantic comedy. And so thought to take it up for my weekdays watch ;).
While watching the movie, certain instances made me think and realize that life is simple; it’s we, the humans who have made it complicated. Sometimes, in certain cases, like love, instead of setting our pre specifications, it’s always better to let life take its own turn and decide what is best for us.
I know it’s easier said than done and I am no exception to it. The reason for me making the above statement is the movie. No doubt the movie was entertaining as expected, but it also brought one very fact of life to prominence. We as humans are gifted to think enough for our survival and love someone in our lifetime.
While the first part of life is well taken care of, the second part, often we screw it up in search of a perfect partner and a perfect life. Irrespective of how much you earn, there are certain things that remain priceless, no matter which civilization and what society you dwell in.
At this point, it has become imperative to disclose the movie plot before I proceed further with my thoughts.
The film I watched was about a girl, who has been hearing a name since her childhood. The name of a person who is going to be her soul mate, as per her playful predictions. But she starts believing strongly for it, the moment a fortuneteller also murmurs the same name. Fortunately, the feeling recedes as time goes by and the lady gets engaged to a guy. Suddenly, one day, she receives a call from a person, who is her fiancĂ©’s friend and the moment he utters his name, it sends chills down her spine ….The memories of her childhood predictions come back again and this time she is ready for all it takes to get him finally.
I think we’ll all agree that it’s crazy, but love makes you do crazy things …. Without thinking about her present situations and what future may bring, she sets out on her journey to find out the guy and has made up her mind to fall in love with that unseen person. During the course of her quest, she meets a guy, who was swept off his feet, the moment he had seen her and now is determined to fight and get her back from her wild imaginations.
Imagine, two strong personalities, hopelessly in love, trying to woo ….but not each other. The guy pursuing her believed that it was destiny that had brought two of them together and the relationship is going to last lifetime. But the girl is looking for someone else. Although she is attracted towards this guy, but her inner thoughts are too strong to believe in the prediction rather than her feelings. Watch out the movie to find out what happens next!!!
So, what is the underlined message from the story so far…..It’s the fact that sometimes in our quest for a perfect person / person of our dreams, who stays in our imaginations, we tend to overlook or even deliberately ignore that the person might well be standing before us …..
It’s just that we are too busy or too ignorant to notice him/her. And most of the times, as a result, we lose that guy / girl and realize our loss, only when they are gone. That’s the irony of human life. We do so much of analysis even in our personal lives that we forget the simple pleasures that life offers us or the simplicity that someone could have brought in our lives, had we offered them a chance. Life is not a movie, it doesn’t always promise a fairy tale ending, and it seldom gives you a second chance.
As we grow older, the thinking of mind becomes more and more complex, because of the experiences on both professional and personal front. And, believe it or not, we also start challenging the very concept of love. The stage comes, when we no longer believe in love at first sight. Even if two mature people strike well the very moment they meet each other , they are more likely to shrug it off as a coincidence and a mere case of friendship . While the possibility would have been that they could have complimented each other as a lifetime couple. But their rational thinking discouraged them to think otherwise.
This sort of thought process, on one hand really helps in knowing oneself and understanding if the feeling for other is mere infatuation or actually love, but the flip side of the coin is, it also leads to complexities and delays in taking decisions. And in most of the cases, by the time a person realizes / takes decision, the other person is gone ….perhaps forever. We simply blame destiny and think that it wasn’t meant to be, little realizing that it was a life sent opportunity, and we have been too late to grab it.
People spend their lifetime waiting for that opportunity to turn up and lucky are the ones who get that second chance. Otherwise, there are also instances, where people settle down for something less and get married just for the heck of it. But within the hearts of hearts, they won’t deny the fact that at some point in their life, they had resigned to their fate, despite knowing that they actually had deserved something better, something that they had once felt passionate about and lived for …
My take is that there is no denying fact that having someone in your life is very important and you are lucky if you catch hold of the person of your choice. Do express your feelings, fight out for him / her , reason out the things at least once , try your best even if that person is not meant to be yours. At least you made an attempt to sort out and gave a fight for it. But never forget that we have only one life and love forms an important but not the essential part of it. If the love of your life doesn’t respond/ reciprocate the same way, go on …... there is no point in waiting or brooding for it. There are lots of other things apart from love that will surely give you happiness. Being with someone is a great feeling and one of the life’s achievements. Do not lower its status by settling for someone whom you don’t love or don’t feel strongly about.
More on this as I keep on exploring and understanding the things around me.
And before I wrap up, this whole stuff reminds me of some of the lines by Bryan Adam’s song:
“There's no love - like your love
And no other - could give more love
There's nowhere - unless you're there
All the time - all the way
You can't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more “
